Rally: Possible cause of Dakar

After the explosion at the Rally Dakar at the end of December, a possible cause has been found for the misfortune.

As the news agency "AFP" reported with vocation to a source related to the investigation, an "improvised explosive" should have been responsible for the explosion on the vehicle of the Frenchman Philippe Boultron. The source confirmed information from "RTL" on Friday.

According to this, the French public prosecutor's office for Terrorism control PNAT has traveled with investigators of the Directorate-General for Internal Security DGSI as well as police officers to Saudi Arabia and removed samples there.

On December 30, Jedda had an explosion at Boutron's vehicle at the start and destination. The 61-year-old had suffered serious injury to the legs and in the meantime in a coma, but is now on the way to recovery.

The French government had classified the explosion as a possible terrorist act. On January 4, PNAT announced that a preliminary investigation was initiated.
